The 2022-23 fishing season began April 1, meaning it’s time for anglers to renew their annual licences, which will be valid through March 31, 2023.
Freshwater fishing
To purchase your freshwater fishing licence for the coming season from the Provincial Government website, click here. Licenses can also be purchased in person from vendors. See here for a complete list.
In addition to annual licences, single-day and eight-day options are also available.
As always, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with the current Provincial Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis before heading out to your favourite fishing spot.
To explore new fishing opportunities around the province, check out the more than 800 stocked lakes featured on the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC’s interactive map.
Tidal / saltwater fishing
For those who want to fish British Columbia’s tidal waters, those are governed by the saltwater fishing regulations and licences, under the jurisdiction of the federal government’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
Like freshwater licences, annual tidal licenses are also valid through the following March 31, with one, three and five-day options also available. Find those details and a link to apply online here.
Tidal licences can also be purchased in person through independent access providers – find those options listed by city here.
