If you’re lucky enough to live on Vancouver Island or to be visiting for the summer, the perfect Saturday evening for couples or families awaits with the Malahat Skywalk’s Summer Skywalk Music Series.
Between the breathtaking views, savoury, Island-made pizzas and talented live local musicians, the Skywalk Music Series is a safe bet for a memorable and relaxing family night out or, if you leave the kids at home, a surefire romantic evening with your special someone!
The perfect evening stroll
Nothing calms the soul and inspires a closer connection with nature quite like a peaceful walk through the treetops.
Soak in some of the best views on the Island as you walk the boardwalk out to the main tower, and be sure to keep your eyes open for the intricately detailed driftwood sculptures by local artist Tanya Bub that guard the paths from above and below.
Sky’s the Limit
Get your heart racing at the top of the tower before sliding in for dinner and a show.
As you enjoy the view, watch for local wildlife and see the world as the birds do, high above the treetops. If you’re lucky you might just catch the Island’s turkey vultures riding the updrafts and soaring just past your finger tips on their way back down the mountain.
Step out onto the adventure net to get your blood pumping before taking the 20-metre spiral slide down to your final destination for the evening.
Pizza, live music and ice cream come together to create the perfect ending to a summer evening in the mountains
Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s time to reward yourself with some amazing local eats from Bicycle Pizza, baked fresh on demand, accompanied by your choice of refreshing boozy or non-alcoholic beverages and live music from some seriously talented Island artists.
Music starts at 4 p.m. and finishes at 6 p.m. but there’s no need to rush – as long as you make it to the top of the tower by 4, you’ll can enjoy the music while taking in the sights, as the stage has some impressive acoustics.
In fact, we might suggest you catch the first few songs from the top of the tower, to really enjoy the magic of live music from the treetops – it’s quite the experience!
Finish the evening with sweet treats
Savour an Island tradition in the making! Softys menu is sure to please everyone as these cold treats are dairy-free, gluten-free and undeniably delicious!
We loved their Jungle Bird sundae or if you’re looking to double down on your locally made goodness, try one of their floats made with Island-brewed Phillips soda.
Now, if that didn’t sound perfect enough, Malahat Skywalk is currently offering 25 per cent off after 4 p.m. every night for the rest of summer! Enjoy the perfect summer evening for a steal of a deal all August long!
So grab the kids or call the babysitter, but don’t miss out on the perfect summer Saturday this August at the Malahat Skywalk.
