For nearly 100 years, expert farmers have been competing at the Chilliwack Plowing Match to see who has the best furrows, straightest lines and highest skills.
The annual event features the B.C. Plowing Championships, draft horses, and tractor classes, as well as a reversable plow class and horseshoe demonstrations.
The competitions are always a popular spectator event, with restored antique tractors working fields, beautiful draft horses pulling plows, and even modern tractors. And mayors and councillors from Chilliwack, Harrison, Hope, Abbotsford, Agassiz and Mission are always on hand to compete in a special mayors’ class.
