Paddling the rivers around Golden, B.C., is an adventure in itself, but for those looking for the best and the biggest in the paddle world, you’ll probably want to stop by this roadside attraction.
The Word’s Largest Paddle — verified by the Guinness Book of World Records — is at the Columbia Wetlands Adventures facility about 26 kilometres south of Golden.
The paddle is 18.5 metres long (that’s 609 feet!) and weighs 2,404 kilograms, or 2.65 tons.
The paddle is built from one Western Red Cedar log, and is said to have taken 200 hours of labour and four gallons of varathane.
The area is a great picnic spot, as well.
