The Kitimat River is a famous fishing destination where anglers can dip their lines throughout most of the year with some chance of success.
While the advice below will vary depending on the season and water levels, cutthroat and dolly varden can be had in January and February, while steelhead run from March to May.
June generally marks the start of the chinook salmon season, with the run peaking in the first week of July. Chum and pink salmon runs also occur in July, with coho begin running strongly around the middle of August and continues into September.
While coho can sometimes be in the river in October, this month is good for trout fishing. In fact, trout are present throughout the year.
