The Bavarian-inspired town of Leavenworth, Wash. welcomes visitors for the much-anticipated return of its annual Oktoberfest celebrations.
Kicking off this weekend, Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, Oktoberfest brings longstanding traditions of music, dancing and the ceremonial tapping of the kegs.
New this year, Oktoberfest festivities are found throughout the town, with two fully programmed venues – one at the Leavenworth Festhalle and the other at Front Street Park. Sit under a clear-topped tent and enjoy tasty beers, lively music and gorgeous mountain views.
Local breweries Icicle Brewing Co., Doghaus Brewery and Blewett Brewing will share their beers – including a collaborative ale brewed just for the occasion – alongside classic imports from Germany.
With fun for the whole family, youngsters will have fun at Kinderplatz, with activities, games, a root beer garden and new this year, a 42-foot Ferris wheel!
Festivities continue Oct. 7 and 8, and Oct. 14 and 15.
Tickets are $10 on Fridays and $25 on Saturdays (includes both venues) and are on sale now, with children 12 and younger admitted free at the Festhalle und Kinderplatz.
