One of Vancouver Island’s most popular summer car shows, set for Parksville Community Park on July 7, boasts a new name and some fun new features.
Now known as the Parksville Car and Bike Show, the event formerly known as the Van Isle Show and Shine will add to the classic cars, welcoming motorcycles, import cars and drift cars as well.
“We will have lots of room down there now,” said organizer Ron Thorogood.
The goal, Thorogood said, is to get the car show back and running again at the community park as it has been a staple summer event here in Parksville Qualicum Beach area and considered as one of the top car shows on Vancouver Island.
“It’s just a beautiful spot to have and it has a great history,” he said.
“This is not a hot rod show. This is a show for anything on four wheels. It’s going to have a variety of vehicles, some custom motorcycles that are coming and out of this world. You don’t see that very often where there’s a whole variety of different things.”
The event, which will also feature vendors, foot trucks, and other displays from various businesses, will go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s free of charge.
Thorogood said all clubs are welcome and they can register online at car-show.ca.
