Curious about casting your line, but don’t have the gear?
The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC’s Rod Loan program is a great way to test your enthusiasm without having to invest in rods, reels and tackle up front.
Dupported by Luhr Jensen, the Rod Loan program allows families and other groups to try fishing without having to purchase gear. At no cost, the program lets you borrow spinning rods with reels and a basic box of tackle.
Find Rod Loan locations at Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC hatcheries and a number of tourism visitor centres and tackle shops throughout the province. To find a Rod Loan site near you, use the Rod Loan filter on the society’s interactive Where to Fish map.
In summer, mobile Rod Loan locations are also set up at various BC lakes. For locations, check their Events calendar.
