Two B.C. spas named among North America’s very best

A pair of Vancouver Island spas are among the top 100 in North America according to a leading expert.

Parksville’s Tigh-Na-Mara and the Oak Bay Beach Hotel’s Boathouse Spa and Baths are named to the Spas of America’s Top 100 of 2023.

“Consumers are rediscovering and revisiting beloved wellness havens, exploring new and enticing resorts and hotels, and discovering experiences deeply rooted in fitness, fresh air and a connection with nature,” Spas of America president Craig Oliver says in an online release.

Tigh-Na-Mara’s Grotto Spa scored the No. 6 seat on the top 100 with the Boathouse in Oak Bay at No. 54.

They’re the only B.C. spas named among 14 in Canada. The list includes five in Mexico and 81 in the U.S.

Spas of America’s annual Top 100 is based on unique page views and consumer choices on spasofamerica.com. New for 2023, all spas must also uphold a Google review rating of 4.0 or higher to be considered.

Grotto Spa, was also recently awarded the No. 1 spa in Canada by Spas of America. It recently underwent a $2.5 million investment, according to Tigh-Na-Mara with updates such as renovated locker rooms and an elevated experience called The Grotto, a blend of nature-inspired elements featuring the introduction of four cedar barrel saunas set in an outdoor garden patio.

The Grotto Spa reopens after renovations on Feb. 16.
